Barbora and I have talked a little about this subject in previous posts. We both feel after talking with others in our internet marketing group that it’s something that we need to share more with you to help you give value to you and your audience.
We Want You to Ask Yourself These Quick Questions:
Do you know who you are? What you look like, how you sound and move. What you care about and believe in. What you offer, what makes you special. (“Yes, we think you’re special”.)
Some of the first videos Barb and I ever did when we were just starting out were… well terrible! The funny part about it now is that we thought they were pretty good, at the time….
But, what we know now is that we did not really know who we really were online and what our target audience was. I remember saying to Barb, “do I really sound and look like that”? She replied… “Yes”. I was devastated! We still laugh about that even now..
Our Point Is…
You need to know what you’re talking about and know who you are in the online world; you need to know who your target audience is and you need to be able to personally communicate to them in a way that they respond.
Do your homework, study and know what you’re sharing so you can give solid valuable advice to your audience, to show them that you’re an authority in this business.

The more Barb and I go to live events the more we realize that many business owners can’t, and that’s a critical mistake!
Having the knowledge and knowing who you are online and knowing what you are teaching is the core of personal branding, and it’s something you need to prove to your audience. The sooner, the better.
Barb and I know now firsthand that it’s the foundation of your business. It determines the look and feel you want your product or service to convey to your audience.
It establishes the perception people have about you and your business, and what their experience with it and you will be.
Branding affects the customers you have now and potential customers, employees and vendors. Everything about your brand needs to affect all those people in a positive way, a way that makes them want to be part of your community.
Your Brand Must Be Unique to You.
We Made This Mistake!!
At the beginning of our online careers, we looked at other more successful internet business owners and tried to copy their style or brand. This was a huge mistake for us, we now know that your audience buys you before the products your selling.
Your personal brand can determine whether or not a customer will do business with you. If any aspect of your brand isn’t appealing or authentic to your audience and their experience, it won’t matter how great your website is because you won’t convert visitors to customers!!

We cannot stress enough to you that you simply can’t put enough importance on branding. When exploring the brand of a business, you need to discover:

- Brand management and customer experience
- Internal and external brand communications
- Business operations
- Product or service quality
- Touchpoints and environments
- Community engagement

Why Invest in Branding?
Branding is the essence and one of the central foundations of your business. It tells people what you do, how you do it and why. You wouldn’t build a home without a blueprint, why would you build your business without solid branding?
Let your personal brand clearly communicate what you believe and how you do business, people who share those same beliefs will be attracted to it. They are likely to become loyal customers, or better yet loyal return customers. What business couldn’t use a few of those!
